MENLO PARK, CA

House Party

The homeowners of this house have big personalities and love to entertain. They wanted their home to reflect their lifestyle and it needed to be highly efficient as well. Site constraints included a location on a busy street corner and large oak trees. An “L” shaped house emerged as a means to push the bounds of these limitations. The rear pool became the major organizing factor with the house and ADU wrapping around it creating a courtyard for entertaining. Large glass doors open the main living spaces to the pool while bedrooms are kept separate for privacy. A “speak-easy” with a secret entrance and a custom screen separating the kitchen and dining areas reflect the energetic and extroverted family.
